International Student Enrolment - How to Apply

To apply to study at Westav Sport Aviation as an international student, complete the following steps:

1. Before You Start

• Choose the program you wish to enroll in.
• Make sure you meet all admission requirements.

2. Apply to Westav Sport Aviation

• Download and complete the Westav Sport Aviation application form.
• Download and complete the Medical Declaration Form.
• Submit supporting documents including the application fee of $100.00 Canadian.
• Send your completed application to:

• You will be notified by email within 48 hours of our receipt of your application.
• Contact us by phone 1-250-442-8616 or 1-866-678-1234.

3. Pay your entry and tuition fees

• Within two weeks, after receipt of your application, we will send you a notice indicating available start dates and instructions for payment.
• You need to confirm a start date as soon as possible, and make payment in full for all tuition fees.
• Payments may be made by VISA, American Express, Mastercard or Discover.
• Payments by bank transfer, contact us for instructions.

4. Letter of Acceptance

• Tuition fees must be paid in full before the letter of acceptance will be issued. • The letter of acceptance is required for your Visa application. • Notify Westav after you have received your visa.
• Payments may be made by VISA, American Express, Mastercard or Discover.
• Payments by bank transfer, contact us for instructions.

5. Accommodation

• Contact Westav to arrange for home-stay if required or,
• You may arrange your own accommodation

Preparing to Arrive

1. What to do before you depart:

• Plan where you will live; apply for home-stay, or search for housing.
• Make travel arrangements.
• Make sure you have adequate travel insurance.
• Advise Westav Sport Aviation when you will arrive.
• Arrange an emergency contact.

2. What to bring:

• Warm clothing for winter (temperatures between -1 and -15 Celsius).
• Cool clothing for spring and summer (temperatures between 20 and 40 Celsius.
• Valid passport or travel documents.
• Credit card (if possible).
• Money to pay for books, food, accommodation, and spending money while you are in Grand Forks.
• 115 volt power adapters for any electronic devices you bring.

Documents to Bring

• A valid passport or travel document.
• A copy of the letter of acceptance from Westav Sport Aviation.

Arriving in Canada

• Most international students arrive in Canada by air, flying into the Vancouver international airport.
• From Vancouver connect with a domestic flight to either Kelowna or Castlegar. Flight time approximately 1 hour.
• Car rentals are available from Kelowna (2 hour 30 minute drive) or Castlegar (1 hour drive) to Grand Forks. Greyhound bus service is also available.
• For pick up at Castlegar airport; make arrangements with Westav Sport Aviation, phone 1-250-442-8616 or 1-866-678-1234.

Arriving at Westav Sport Aviation

• Orientation: familiarization with Grand Forks airport, training aircraft and facility.
• Orientation: Introduction to activities, attractions and facilities in Grand Forks and surrounding area.
• Placement interview to determine if English Language Program enrolment is necessary.


Students must familiarize themselves with the refund policy prior to submitting payment for their flight training.

1. Before the first day of classes you receive a 60% refund of tuition fees only.
2. After you have begun flight training you receive no refund of tuition fees.
Full refunds (less the $100.00 administration fee and the $500.00 placement fee) are given to students who must withdraw due to medical reasons. If this occurs, you must notify Westav Sport Aviation in writing providing documentation before the start date of training. Once training starts, you will be entitled to the refund amounts described above.
